BOOTS
 

Plastics or modern leather, rated B2 or B3. Comfort is paramount. Hardy and lightweight is advised. Modern materials such as Gore-tex or Vibram (merrell) is advantageous.

     
     
   

GAITERS
 

These stop rain / snow or gravel getting into your boots. essential in Autumn / Winter, as the trail will almost certainly be puddle ridden, or slushy from snow
     
     
   

SOCKS
  Inner socks are the softer ones, with the toe seam higher than normal socks. Outer socks are essential. ensure that they are thermal and paddy for the boots. Get socks that have support bands / areas
     
     
   

TROUSERS
 

Comfortable, durable, and warm.

Only rule is : no cotton (especially no jeans)
