Ultraviolet - Visible Spectroscopy Outdated today by more sophisticated techniques such as mass spectrometry (MS), NMR and IR, it is rarely used for true structural determination, but gives good consolidating evidence for other methods. Nowadays it has found its niche in routine quantitative analysis, and is a primary source of such analysis for chemical, pharmaceutical, paint, plastic and paper industries.
